Fire walls as structural elements that serve to prevent the spread of fire between neighboring buildings are anchored in Berlin’s urban building regulations. The massive walls extend over the entire height of the buildings and influence the urban aesthetics. This is why firewalls are increasingly being included in the overall planning of architects. The exhibition series Hinterho!argon takes up this area in a backyard in Neukölln, Berlin. The special feature is that the open and tapering firewall is composed of a total of three surfaces. The architectural arrangement creates an expansive feeling. The wall thus serves as a temporary exhibition space for two- dimensional or sculptural works, but also as a projection surface, a space for performances and concerts.

Brandwände als konstruktive Elemente, die dazu dienen, die Ausbreitung von Bränden zwischen benachbarten Gebäude zu verhindern, sind in der städtischen Baubestimmung Berlins verankert. Die massiven Mauern erstrecken sich über die gesamte Höhe der Gebäude und beeinflussen die städtebauliche Ästhetik. Deshalb werden Brandmauern immer häufiger in der Gesamtplanung von Architekt:innen miteinbezogen. Die Ausstellungsreihe Hinterhofjargon greift in einem Hinterhof in Neukölln, Berlin jene Fläche auf. Es ergibt sich die Besonderheit, dass sie offenen liegende und sich verjüngende Brandwand insgesamt aus drei Flächen zusammensetzt ist. Durch die architektonische Anordnung entsteht ein raumgreifendes Gefühl. Somit dient die Wand als temporäre Ausstellungsfläche für zweidimensionale oder skulpturale Arbeiten, aber auch als Projektionsfläche, als Raum für Performances und Konzerte.
